Saturday 8 The Friend Edition ( from Laura )

This is a copy of Laura's Saturday 8 - 8 questions that provoke serious or fun thought, depending on the questions each week! Ok this is a first for the blog and I am experimenting with how to do it. As far as I understand I will post a link in Laura's blog back to this post. Anyone who is crazy enough to read my blog ( hi there Heritages ) can put their answers in the comments on this post if they want to.
1. do you make friends easily?
2. do you have many close friends?
3. tell us about your oldest friend.
4. tell us about your newest friend.
5. do you hang out with your friends often, or just occasionally when you can find time?
6. what's the furthest you've travelled to visit (or vacation with, etc.) a friend?
7. what's the biggest or best thing a friend has ever done for you?
8. what's the worst or most hurtful thing that a friend (or an ex-friend) has done to you?
And my answers are :
1. do you make friends easily?
No, it takes me ages to develop a friendship outside the family and I tend to neglect them.
2. do you have many close friends?
Surprise surprise, no.
3. tell us about your oldest friend.
Apart from family ( because I still claim that my best friends are also my family ) my oldest friend would have been my best friend at school, Ian Fletcher. Unfortunately he died at sea on a school outing but they never found his body. Spooky as he was a really good swimmer and the other kid in the boat who survived could hardly swim. He is in my thoughts always.
4. tell us about your newest friend.
Mmmm.... hard one that. Probably have to be Mel and Lynda from Christchurch Seagulls ( formerly with Dolphins ) or the Rolts. All swimming related.
5. do you hang out with your friends often, or just occasionally when you can find time?
Hardly ever. I am starting to get a bad feeling about myself here. But my family is my life.
6. what's the furthest you've travelled to visit (or vacation with, etc.) a friend?
From England to Switzerland. To see Rita when I was 20. I had met her on a kibbutz in Israel and was slightly besotted with her. She seeemd to have a great life, wandering the world with her dog, Reno, a beautiful German shepherd. An unrequired love unfortunately!
7. what's the biggest or best thing a friend has ever done for you?
Alison just by being yourself, you always seem to be there when I need you the most.
8. what's the worst or most hurtful thing that a friend (or an ex-friend) has done to you?
I need to leave that one for now!
Phew - I need a lie down now.
