Saturday 8 The Friend Edition ( from Laura )

This is a copy of Laura's Saturday 8 - 8 questions that provoke serious or fun thought, depending on the questions each week! Ok this is a first for the blog and I am experimenting with how to do it. As far as I understand I will post a link in Laura's blog back to this post. Anyone who is crazy enough to read my blog ( hi there Heritages ) can put their answers in the comments on this post if they want to.

1. do you make friends easily?

2. do you have many close friends?

3. tell us about your oldest friend.

4. tell us about your newest friend.

5. do you hang out with your friends often, or just occasionally when you can find time?

6. what's the furthest you've travelled to visit (or vacation with, etc.) a friend?

7. what's the biggest or best thing a friend has ever done for you?

8. what's the worst or most hurtful thing that a friend (or an ex-friend) has done to you?

And my answers are :

1. do you make friends easily?
No, it takes me ages to develop a friendship outside the family and I tend to neglect them.
2. do you have many close friends?
Surprise surprise, no.
3. tell us about your oldest friend.
Apart from family ( because I still claim that my best friends are also my family ) my oldest friend would have been my best friend at school, Ian Fletcher. Unfortunately he died at sea on a school outing but they never found his body. Spooky as he was a really good swimmer and the other kid in the boat who survived could hardly swim. He is in my thoughts always.
4. tell us about your newest friend.
Mmmm.... hard one that. Probably have to be Mel and Lynda from Christchurch Seagulls ( formerly with Dolphins ) or the Rolts. All swimming related.
5. do you hang out with your friends often, or just occasionally when you can find time?
Hardly ever. I am starting to get a bad feeling about myself here. But my family is my life.
6. what's the furthest you've travelled to visit (or vacation with, etc.) a friend?
From England to Switzerland. To see Rita when I was 20. I had met her on a kibbutz in Israel and was slightly besotted with her. She seeemd to have a great life, wandering the world with her dog, Reno, a beautiful German shepherd. An unrequired love unfortunately!
7. what's the biggest or best thing a friend has ever done for you?
Alison just by being yourself, you always seem to be there when I need you the most.
8. what's the worst or most hurtful thing that a friend (or an ex-friend) has done to you?
I need to leave that one for now!

Phew - I need a lie down now.

Photos from Spain 5

These are a selection of photos from our favourite place in Spain at the moment - Terra Mitica. The onlyt major downside was that Scarlett was a couple of centimetres short on the really scary rides that she had been looking forward to for ages. Next time babes!
How do you like our 3 mummies??!

This was taken just before the Colosseum show which was pretty good seeing as it was in Spanish and we couldn't understand a word of it. They had some cool juggling and some trampoline artists on as part of the show. David looks positively evil. I think it was the 6th Diet Coke that did it.
It's a hard life in this heat!

Photos from Spain 4

This was our day out at Rio Safari Elche, a small basic zoo but really friendly and hands-on. David making friends with a camel.

This was our best friend from Elche, a giraffe that came and took peanuts and palm berries straight from your hand. Also there was a bridge ( just see it in the distance ) where you could actually talk to the giraffe on his level. Great experience.

As you can see we all got on really well at Elche. Weather was scorching hot. This picture was taken just before the parrot show ( or was it the Elephant show? )

Best picture of the holiday!

An evening of chicken paella and good conversation. Teddy looks a bit scary though!
Deborah's tan coming along nicely.

Scarlett at Chasis's bar, minutes before her entrance onto the karaoke stage to sing Material Girl. Very, very brave! ( and Michael and David agreed )

Deborah looking pleased with her tan so far.
Michael - watching satellite TV! ( nice shirt that )

Scarlett - "I'm keeping well out of the way" - while Michael pushes David into the salt lakes. This was taken only a few minutes after Dad's now famous victory on the punishing crazy golf course.

David taking it easy as soon as we arrive.
Day out at Aquopolis Water Park with our friends from Bournemouth. I didn't have time to do the "chest out, shoulders back" pose!
Scarlett eating yet another ice cream with Sophie. Kevin getting over his beer in the 30 degree heat.

Sophie enjoying her ice cream and Evie hoping that she doesn't spill any.
